What is KidSport?
KidSport will make it possible for Western Australian Children to participate in community sport and recreation, no matter their financial circumstances.
KidSport will allow eligible youth aged 4 – 18 years to apply for financial assistance towards club fees. The fees will go directly from the Shire of Collie to the registered KidSport clubs participating in the project.
Am I Eligible?
- Applicant must be aged 4 – 18 years;
- Applicant must have a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card;
- Applicant’s primary place of residence must be in the local government area they are applying to (exceptions may apply);
- It is preferred that applicants register with a club that is in their local government area.
KidSport Online Application
Applying for KidSport has become even simpler for applicants applying for KidSport funding. You are now able to apply for KidSport online, and there is a handy ‘How to apply for Kidsport online guide’ also available on the Kidsport website.
Prior to completing the KidSport Online Application Process, please ensure you have an electronic copy of your Health Care Card / Pensioner Concession Card (scanned or photographed copy is fine). The file can then be uploaded onto the online form.
Paper-based forms will still be available if you don’t have access to the internet.
The Shire of Collie encourages clubs to register for the KidSport program. Your club does not have to be based in the Shire of Collie but the children do have to be residents of the Shire. Your club may need to register with more than one Local Government if you have members from different areas.
How does my club register?
Your club needs to register online every year through the Department Sport and Recreation website. You can use the website to update your details such as fees, committee members etc. or register your Club for Kidsport.
Are we eligible?
To be eligible, clubs must be:
- Not-for-profit sport or recreation club, and if applicable, affiliated with a recognised State Sporting Association or have affiliation through a State organisation; or
- Business/privately owned BUT individual members MUST be affiliated with a recognised State Sporting Association or have affiliation through a State organisation.
What happens next?
Children or parents / guardians will present your club with their KidSport voucher. You must check that this has been validated (stamped and signed) by Roche Park Recreation Centre (Shire of Collie). If so, this proves that they are eligible for the KidSport program.
If they have applied for KidSport funding online then an automated confirmation of application will be sent for assessment and approval to the local government in which they reside.
Once all approved the Clubs can then send an invoice to the Shire of Collie for the applicable fees. This can include the club fees, essential personal equipment and uniforms. When you are invoicing, please include your Club name, ABN, Tax Invoice number, the child’s name, the fee for each child and payment details.
You do not need to send us the child’s application form as we have copies of these already. Each child is eligible for up to $200 per calendar year. Invoices will be processed as soon as possible but please allow up to a month for payment, especially during busy periods.
