The Shire of Collie currently operates a range of committees that provide advice to Council to enable fully informed decisions to be made. Many matters considered by Council will have first been examined by a committee with expertise in various areas, such as finance, policy development, or bush fire management. It is an effective and efficient way for matters to be dealt with, and Council is very respectful of recommendations made by committees.
Council appoints committees for a two year term, with such committees appointed at the first full council meeting following the biennial council elections.
The membership of some committees comprises community representation. Community nominations for these committees are advertised as required, and those with a particular interest are invited to apply. The nomination form is available in the related documents panel.
Current committees with a community representation component include:
- CBD Revitalisation Committee
- Disability Access and Inclusion Committee
- Townscape Committee
- Weeds and Waterways Committee
